Joygram Social Welfare Society Hands Over Motorized Tricycles to 39 Persons with Disabilities at Subarnadwip Ashram

Hasnabad, June 15: Under the initiative of Joygram Social Welfare Society, motorized tricycles were handed over to 39 persons with disabilities at the premises of Subarnadwip Ashram on Monday (June 15) at 12 noon.

The programme was graced by the presence of Ms. Rekha Patra, MLA of Hingalganj Assembly Constituency, as the Chief Guest. She said, “The humanitarian work being carried out by Joygram Social Welfare Society for the welfare of persons with disabilities is undoubtedly praiseworthy.”

Among the special guests was Mr. Samir Mondal, Block Development Officer (BDO) of Hasnabad. He said, “The administration always stands beside persons with disabilities. I am hopeful that many more social development initiatives will be implemented through this organisation in the coming days.”

Also present at the programme was Mr. Mohammad Omar Ali Molla, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Hasnabad. He stated, “Battery-operated tricycles are environment-friendly and do not cause environmental pollution.” He also specially requested all beneficiaries to follow traffic rules while using the vehicles.

Mr. Ariful Islam Mandal, Founder Member of Joygram Social Welfare Society, informed that, “There is a plan to distribute battery-operated tricycles to another one thousand persons with disabilities in the near future.”

Mr. Afsar Ali Gazi, Special Project Coordinator of the organisation, said, “Persons with disabilities have demonstrated their abilities in water, land and air alike. They are not incapable in any way; rather, they are an important part of society.”

Among others present at the event were Assistant Commandants of the 74th BSF Battalion, Mr. Mahendra Singh, Mr. K.K. Singh and Mr. Dharmendra Singh; Mr. Nimai Das, President of Basirhat Organisational District and noted social worker; and Mr. Sanjay Kumar Ray, Inspector-in-Charge (IC) of Hasnabad Police Station, along with several other distinguished guests.

In his address, Mr. Nimai Das said, “Humanity exists for the welfare of humanity. I shall continue to stand beside this organisation in its efforts for social welfare.”

The programme was regarded as an important step towards enhancing the self-reliance of persons with disabilities and ensuring their greater participation in the mainstream of society
