Joygram Social Welfare Society Distributes Assistive Devices to 352 Persons with Disabilities at Subarnadwip
Staff Reporter, Hasnabad, July 31: Joygram Social Welfare Society has taken a remarkable initiative to make the lives of persons with disabilities more independent and accessible. On Friday, an Assistive Devices Distribution Camp was organized at Subarnadwip Ashram with the support of ALIMCO, where essential assistive devices were distributed to a total of 352 persons with disabilities.
A total of 28 categories of assistive devices were distributed, including battery-operated tricycles, wheelchairs, hearing aids, educational support materials, crutches, CP chairs, rollators, therapy equipment, commode chairs, walking sticks, and other essential mobility and rehabilitation aids. The beneficiaries expressed their happiness and gratitude after receiving the devices.
The programme was graced by the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Hasnabad, Mr. Sameer Mondal, as the Chief Guest, along with the Joint Block Development Officer, Mr. Somnath Ghosh. Distinguished social workers Mr. Nimai Das, Mr. Prosenjit Bhowmik, Mr. Biswajit Sardar, and Mr. Khagendranath Mondal were also present. They personally handed over the assistive devices to the beneficiaries and appreciated the initiative of the Society.
Representing Amanat Foundation, Kolkata, Mr. Jalaluddin Ahmed announced that, in the coming days, support would be extended through Joygram Social Welfare Society to promote goat-rearing projects for economically vulnerable persons with disabilities in the area, helping them become self-reliant.
Speaking on the occasion, BDO Mr. Sameer Mondal said, “Standing beside people who have been left behind from the mainstream of society and ensuring that they receive the support they need is the true spirit of social service. The initiative taken by Joygram Social Welfare Society is truly commendable.”
Founder Member of the Society, Mr. Ariful Islam Mandal, announced that a special assessment camp would be organized on 21 and 22 August for around 2,000 senior citizens to assess their needs for assistive devices. Meanwhile, the Society’s Special Project Coordinator, Mr. Afsar Gazi, informed that necessary assistance would be provided for free corrective surgeries for children and persons born with Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate on 8 August.
The Society’s Secretary, Mr. Piar Ali Gain, said, “We will continue to stand beside the poor, elderly, and persons with disabilities by implementing various welfare and community development programmes in the coming days.”
The programme concluded successfully with the active cooperation and enthusiastic participation of local residents.
